Aosta Valley, Courmayeur For Nordic skiers, there's nothing better than days filled with fun in Val Ferret, where slopes abound for both experts and non. These run in part next to a pedestrian path on the snow, allowing for pleasant nature walks just a few miles short of the town center.

Lots of good shops, restaurants and bars, and a good après-ski scene. Access to the world's longest lift-served run, the Vallée Blanche. Best for intermediate skiers, and good off-piste and heliskiing available.

Get around] 45°47′24″N 6°57′36″E. Map of Courmayeur. Savda buses run every 30 min between Aosta and Courmayeur, taking one hour. They also do a circuit of Courmayeur (as far up as La Palud) every half hour. There's a direct service between Courmayeur and La Thuile, 3 times in the morning and 3 late afternoon.
